Man rides stationary bike for 85 hours
January 18th, 2007
As reported by the Associated Press, George Hood rode a stationary bike for 85 hours to set a new Guinness World Record for… the most boring endurance event ever conceived.
Now, I’ve done some crazy things… but at least most of my crazy things were fun. This does not sound like fun at all. This just sounds boring. As Karl pointed out in a comment on my blog last month, indoor spinning miles are really quite tiresome and mentally stressful. This is a record I just don’t see the point in aspiring to.
Apparently the previous record was set last year at 82 hours. Should we expect to see this record continually broken every year until someone realizes how silly this particular record is?
He raised $25,000 for an organization that supports families of police officers slain in the line of duty. Hood is a DEA supervisor with over 23 years of federal law enforcement experience.
Maybe I’m being too hard on the guy. I guess he did it for a good cause.
